I usually am not one for surprises, but today was different. I was talking with Wade from The Coral Merchant and he gave me one that I was not prepared for. Apparently, his trip to Indiana was to get our classroom build a gift. Apparently, Northside Aquatics LLC decided to donate us a 90-gallon reef ready tank and filtration system! I was in shock to say the least! What this means for us is that we will have a tank that is pre-drilled with holes for our filtration system. This reduces the chance of malfunction and makes for a much cleaner looking tank. Our other 90-gallon tank will serve as a hospital/quarantine tank for our livestock now. I cannot thank these two businesses enough for what they have done for this build and for the students of this school.
So, how close are we? Well, Wade is shipping our donations out. We should have a good amount of boxes arriving Friday and a whole pallet of supplies next week. The live rock will follow that. I am going to pick up 40 gallons of water from Inman's on Friday and start mixing the salt water. Our live rock will need to sit in this while we eagerly await our tank to be assembled. This means the students will have to start doing water tests very soon!
Things are shaping up and it looks like we will get to work on this very soon. Can't wait for what tomorrow brings! Make tomorrow a great day!
